"Luxembourg is an important partner for Poland"

Luxembourg is for Poland a very important partner regarding our presence in the sphere of deepened and accelerated European integration, President Bronislaw Komorowski said after a meeting with HRH Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg in Warsaw on Wednesday.

 

HRH Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa started a three-day official visit to Poland on Wednesday. Later in the day they met with PM Donald Tusk and the speakers of the Polish Sejm (lower house) and Senate.

According to the president, Poland is interested in "the participation in the sphere of deepened European integration in which Luxembourg has been present since the very beginning of the European Union".

 

"And thus Luxembourg is for Poland a very important partner regarding our presence in the sphere of deepened and accelerated European integration," the president said.

 

"Let me express hope that we will be able to cooperate in such matters as Europe's security, especially in the face of the crisis in Ukraine, behind the EU's and NATO's eastern border, and that we manage to act jointly to consolidate the North Atlantic Alliance and improve its attractiveness and readiness to operate also in our eastern part of NATO and the EU," President Komorowski said.

 

On Wednesday afternoon the Polish president and his wife together with Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa will attend a "Radio Luxembourg Hits" concert at Polish Radio Three.

 

On Thursday President Komorowski and Grand Duke Henri will take part in the opening of the Business and Financial Forum Poland-Luxembourg.

 

On Friday the grand duke and duchess will travel to Krakow. (PAP)
